Growers

Ball Australia is a wholesale plant nursery operating from custom built state of the art facilities in Skye, in the outer suburbs of Melbourne. The nursery produces starter plants and seedlings which are then shipped Australia wide. We have vacancies in both our main production house and our mother stock house.

We are looking for Growers who are looking for a long-term, full-time career at Ball Australia. The successful applicants would ideally have extensive growing knowledge; and skills that can be easily transferred to the plug production business. We would also consider newly qualified graduates and those who wish to start a career in horticulture. Reporting to the Head Grower, the roles encompass the day to day growing activities, working as part of the growing team. We have a very large range of products which in turn creates a complex growing environment.

Responsibilities of the role:

• Maintaining production flow through the nursery.

• Pest and Disease Management.

• Manage and deliver optimal plant nutritional requirements.

• Be part of the weekend/out of hours watering/spraying roster.

Skills and experience:

• Previous plug production experience would be beneficial.

• Comprehensive knowledge of disease and pest management as well as crop nutrition.

• Qualifications in horticulture, science or similar would be preferable.

• Have sound analytical skills, can help solve problems and a positive attitude.

• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.

• Someone who is highly self-motivated and works well in a team environment as well as individually.

• Attention to detail and a high level of initiative.
