Dr Katie Asplin

Director - Science and Stewardship Policy (Chemistry), CropLife Australia

CropLife Australia represents the innovators, developers, manufacturers, formulators and registrants of crop protection and ag-biotechnology products. Their mission through industry leadership and advocacy, is to achieve a strategic regulatory environment that provides the plant science industry the freedom to responsibly operate, grow and enhance its ability to support Australia’s farmers.

Katie assists the Director – Agricultural Chemical Policy by providing high level and specific technical advice to inform the development of regulatory reform options and policy solutions relevant to the effective and efficient regulation of agricultural chemicals. She also champions CropLife’s stewardship responses for agricultural chemical products, ensuring sustainable agricultural outcomes.

Katie will talk about the regulatory and scientific reality regarding the safety of glyphosate, the disconnect between that reality and public perception, and how public perception can affect access to critical products. Katie will also run through CropLife’s advocacy efforts in this space to ensure our member companies’ freedom to operate and consequently maintain access to products for members of the Nursery & Garden Industry. 

Adam Stewart

Inspector, Operations & Emergency Management, WorkSafe

Adam Stewart is a F1 Multi-Disciplinary Inspector for WorkSafe Victoria. Adam covers a broad range of industries, including transport, logistics, dangerous good and agriculture. Adams background is mining and technical rescue.

Adam will provide members with an update on nursery safety related issues, as well as highlight the current areas of focus for WorkSafe.
