NextGen 'Skills in the Hills'
Come and join us for a day in the hills as we visit a few nurseries to learn and participate in some hands-on demos.

The day will include:


Cool Climate Plants at Conifer Gardens

Conifer Gardens grow a large range of conifers, Japanese Maples and other cool climate plants. David Daly will be providing a hands-on demo on:

  • How to plant properly
  • What time to treat plant roots for the greatest plant growth
  • Pruning plants
  • Know what plants you are growing and their origin to influence plant selection
  • How long it takes to produce a conifer


Grafting at Nishiki Nursery

Nishiki Nursery specialise in growing the best quality grafted maples, with over 80 varieties of Japanese Maples and many other trees and shrubs and bonsai. Steve Boekel, with over 15 years experience grafting and budding will give a hands-on demo with different techniques and processes involved.


Dissecting Bulbs at Drewitt’s Bulbs

Drewitt’s Bulbs pride themselves on providing one of Australia’s largest bulb range to the highest possible quality and Tim Drewitt will impart some of his knowledge and enthusiasm for bulbs.


Indoor Plants at Biemond Nurseries

Biemond Nurseries grows a wide range of foliage and flowering plants suitable for indoors, balconies and patios.

We will look at what makes growing indoor plants different to outdoor. We will look at how greenhouses work and how to use use peat moss successfully.
