Industry Advocacy

COVID-19 has created a challenge for all industries, including the nursery industry. Here’s how Nursery & Garden Industry Victoria (NGIV) and Greenlife Industry Australia (GIA) is responding to ensure the best possible outcomes for all members.

Our priority is to ensure the industry is able to stay open. Work is being done by NGIV, GIA andall other state NGIs to help government understand that, in a time of crisis, the industry provides an essential service for physical and mental wellbeing.

We are having ongoing discussions with Agriculture Victoria; stating our belief of the importance of the Industry to the community and the supply chain. They have also requested that we also keep them updated with developments within the Industry. We participate in a weekly, standing teleconference with Agriculture Victoria and will continue to advocate for our Industry.

We have been and will continue to be proactive in our response to COVID-19 and that has led to us being part of the conversation that is happening within Government.

We ask that you all continue to operate your businesses in line with advice from the Victorian Government and the Chief Health Officer. Now, more than ever we must stick together, remain positive and represent our Industry to the highest standards.

Here's what GIA President, Glenn Fenton had to say. “I want to assure you that the Federal Government is very aware of the need to ensure that those who service and contribute to the continued operation of manufacturing supply chains for food and health, or support the provision of those services or other vital community infrastructure, must remain operational at all times for the benefit of the community.”
