The day will be packed with guest speakers, hands on activities and give you some fantastic ideas, insights and knowledge to take back to school.
We will be discussing school garden design, a unique alternative to school composting, student sense of place through school gardens and how we as educators can inspire climate action through gardening.
Whether your school is a concrete jungle with only a dream of a garden, or it has an established garden program, Invigorating School Gardens workshop will have something for everyone.
Teachers, parents, grounds staff, admin, school leadership are welcome to attend.
Invigorating School Gardens will be hosted by James McLennan from Grassroots Sustainability.
James lives and breathes Education for Sustainability and has worked extensively in the sustainability sector. As well as a fruitful history of partnering with schools on education programs, James has worked with small to medium business, NFP's, councils and corporate and government bodies. He has recently launched his own business, Grassroots Sustainability.
About the host school: Geelong College - Middle School , has a a year-long environmental immersion program for all Year 4 students. The program began in 2001 as a response to the notion that there is a growing disconnect between young people and nature and has developed into a successful outdoor program.
