Insect and Mite Integrated Crop Management
In collaboration with NGIV, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) will deliver a workshop aimed at providing information on how to manage insect and mite pests using an integrated crop management approach.
The workshop will cover:
•
How to implement or improve cultural management practices
•
Methods to detect plant problems and implementing a monitoring plan for early detection
•
How to conserve natural enemies or use commercial biological control agents
•
Pesticide rotations for most pest groups
The workshop will be delivered by Andrew Manners and John Duff as part of the co-funded DAF, Hort Innovation and nursery levy funded project “Building the resilience and on-farm biosecurity capacity of the Australian production nursery industry".
Please bring plants that have an unknown problem. ALL samples must be contained in a sealed bag or container to reduce risk of spreading the problem.
If visiting your nursery prior to the workshop, be mindful not to share. Please change your clothes prior to arrival if you have handled plants. This will reduce spread of pests or diseases while on the nursery walk.
Please bring the following:
•
Hat
•
An open mind, with a willingness to learn;
•
Plant production questions, particularly with regard to pests or disease.
