Leadership Kickstart Program

Leadership Kickstart Program
If you're interested in developing your leadership skills, aspiring to a leadership or management role within a business or the industry, are new to a leadership role or are more experienced and would like to refresh and update your skills and knowledge then this 2-day program is for you!

About the Program

Leadership and the ability to get the best out of yourself and others is a critical skill in today's workplace for optimal performance, efficiency and creating a great environment for your people.

This 2-day program has the philosophy that leadership is an activity, not a position - we believe that everyone can be a leader, no matter what role they occupy. Imagine if all of your staff were supported and empowered to lead? How would things be different? What could be achieved?

This workshop has been designed  for participants to learn a range of leadership skills and techniques to equip them to better lead and manage at a personal, team, organisational and industry level. We want you to develop further confidence in your own unique leadership style. The workshop will be very practical and interactive and we'll explore and understand what it means to lead and practice leadership. We also want to enable you to build a supportive and accountable culture and network to help and guide each other.

The course has been designed to ensure there is a break between days 1 and 2. This will give you the opportunity for reflection and to practice what you have learnt back in your workplace and also report back to the group about what you learnt.

What you will Learn:

Understand your strengths and values and how to perform at your best,
Learn the skills to build an effective team and build a culture of team accountability,
Feedback techniques for courageous conversations,
Identify who do you want to be as a leader?
How to influence others and manage self,
Understand different leadership styles and how to adapt yours to different situations,
Coaching skills for leaders,
The Leadership Lab process where you'll identify a real leadership challenge you're facing in the workplace and have the opportunity to work on it in between days 1 and 2,
There will also be the opportunity for you to decide on some of the modules we cover.

What's Included:

A pre-program engagement with participants,
A two-day workshop over three-four weeks,
A participant workbook with comprehensive notes, resources and reflection activities,
Weekly emails in between sessions to build participants’ leadership tool kits and maintain engagement, including videos, readings and reflection,

Feedback from the 2018 program:

This program was run last year with 23 participants attending. David Mathews, CEO of Proteaflora, sent along three of his staff to the program. “I thought it would be useful because business is first about people. I need my senior staff to have the skills to get the very best from all the people they interact with – their teams, customers and suppliers. My people returned reinvigorated and excited to try new ideas and I noticed a new buzz – conversations about the strengths of team members, team structure, value of feedback, personality types and the importance of clear standards. This Leadership program is a great NGIV initiative bringing together and training current and future leaders of our industry. I encourage all Members to participate in future programs and take advantage of this very valuable membership benefit.”
