Join us to explore how your school garden can become a powerful tool for activating your community.

Gardens are places for people.  School gardens provide the perfect place and project to activate your school community.

The day will be based at Colac Secondary College home to the award-winning Farm My School pilot project.

What we will explore:

  •  A garden that is under 6 months old and hear from teachers that are at the start of their garden journey. Explore how it relates to the curriculum, provides tangible learning for the students and benefits the local community.
  • What your school is currently doing within specialty areas and year levels and how some of these could be enhanced by utilising your school garden.
  • The key curriculum strand of Sustainability and how it can be central to your garden.
  • How your school can save money and even make money through the garden.
  • How your school can get assistance to transform your garden to aid your curriculum and the wellbeing of students.

Whether your school garden is new, postage stamp sized, or has an established garden program, this workshop will have something for all schools. Teachers, parents, grounds staff, admin, school leadership are welcome to attend.

School Gardens to Activate Communities will be hosted by James McLennan , VSGP Educator and CEO & Director of Farm
