As the peak body for the nursery and garden industry in Australia, Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA) is responsible for overseeing the national development of our industry. By joining the Nursery & Garden Industry Victoria, members will receive automatic membership of NGIA.
NGIA's work covers a range of national development issues including:
- Liaising with the federal government, departments and authorities on relevant industry issues
- Working with Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) to determine industry marketing and research and development initiatives as well as levy funding priorities
- Providing strategic direction and leadership to the industry
- Ensuring communication of relevant industry information
- Working with the state and territory Nursery & Garden Industries (NGIs) to ensure unity, strength and synergy.
NGIA and the state and territory NGIs represent all sectors of the industry including producers, wholesalers, retailers, allied traders and consultants. Our goal is to 'Build Better Businesses' by helping and supporting members to improve their profit, performance and professionalism.
Members of NGIA have access to valuable business and industry information through a number of publications. Members can receive the NGIA communications by contacting Heather Henderson at NGIA on (02) 9876 5200, via email to: info@ngia.com.au. Members can also subscribe online at www.ngia.com.au under 'Keep Me Informed'.
The communications currently include:
- NGIA Clippings is a monthly newsletter that provides you with industry news in a quick, easy-to-read format. It contains stories and case studies, plus the latest news on the industry, issues, events and your levy-funded marketing and R&D programs.
- The Nursery Papers are colour-coded into technical (teal), marketing (yellow) and business (blue) for easy reference. They also provide actionable conclusions so that you can apply the information to your business.
- The Issue Alert delivers vital information which you need to know without delay, such as pest and disease incursions, new tax rulings or consumer media issues.
- NGIA Headlines appear in Australian Horticulture and Greenworld magazines, providing a preview of the upcoming stories in NGIA Clippings and focus of the next Nursery Paper.
