Plant pests and diseases do not take much notice of state borders. Regulations on plant movements vary from state-to-state and even within some states. It is important that if you are buying in or sending plants within inter, or even intrastate that you are aware of the regulations that apply in those jurisdictions. Weeds don’t generally take any notice of borders. Invasive plant management is an all of Australia issue.
In Victoria the Plant Standards Unit of Department of Primary Industries is the authority that will be your first contact point. They are responsible for accrediting and monitoring of businesses and plants for interstate plant movements.
