Groundswell is a 24 page publication with a page size of 210mm x 297mm (A4). Artwork should be supplied on DVD or CD and images to be of at least 300dpi/175lpi. Disks should be clearly marked with the advertiser’s business name and month of advertising.
Groundswell uses the following software and accepts only artwork that can be opened in these: Acrobat 8, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS2 or below, InDesign CS2 and Quark Express 4.11 & 6.5. Only postscript fonts will be accepted and all fonts must be embedded or supplied. Please do not artificially style fonts (eg: bold and italics) as simulation often results in unsatisfactory output. All fonts should be converted to outlines within the application used or supplied as Macintosh postscript screen and print fonts.
Images included in the artwork supplied must be greyscale or CMYK file type EPS or TIFF 300dpi to the exact size required (100%), line art bitmap TIFF files 1200dpi. Please do not supply any images as RGB, JPEG or images or logos that have been taken off the Internet. The latter have been placed for use on the Internet only and are not suitable for printed publications.
We cannot use embedded colour profiles, LAB or RGB colour modes. JPEG files sent via email will only be accepted after our graphic designer has checked these for quality and converted them into a suitable format.
Groundswell is created in Quark(Mac) and is output directly to plate. Suppliers of digital advertising are responsible for checking all files before sending them to NGIV. Any work undertaken by NGIV to process non-compliant material will incur a charge. Due to the highly specialised and complex technical nature of image/plate setters and to ensure the best quality reproduction of your material, NGIV has the following guidelines:
- Any digital file that does not comply with these guidelines cannot be accepted.
- Electronic advertisements compatible with Apple Macintosh are preferred but some PC-compatible files are also accepted.
- We do not accept: Film, Microsoft Publisher, PowerPoint or CorelDraw.
You will find advertisement sizes in our 2008/09 Media Kit. Please allow for a minimum of a 3mm bleed and enough space for trim when supplying artwork.
